Blind Date
As the author reveals in this article,
sometimes a blind date may just turn out to be the one
you've been waiting for ...
I've never been one to agree to a blind date. In fact,
whenever anyone has ever offered to fix me up on a blind date,
I've avoided it. Which is why, when a friend of mine told me
that she had the perfect guy for me and wanted to fix me up on
a blind date, I surprised myself when I said yes. It would be
she and her boyfriend and my blind date and I.
I agreed to meet the three of them at a local restaurant,
though I contemplated backing out several times. Before I knew
it, I was pulling into the parking lot for my very first blind
date. I was incredibly nervous and convinced that this guy
would not be my Prince Charming. I entered the lobby and my
friend was waiting for me. She told me that the guys were
already sitting down at the bar having a drink while waiting
for a table. She again told me that my blind date was
absolutely perfect for me and looking forward to meeting me. I
asked her why she was so convinced that he was perfect for me
considering every guy that I date is always different from the
previous one. I didn't even know that I had a particular type.
She told me that he liked many of the same things that I did
and that he was tall, dark and handsome. I rolled my eyes and
let her lead me over to the bar where my fate and my blind date
were waiting for me. From the moment he stood up to greet me, I
was captivated. He was definitely pleasant to look at and he
kissed my hand softly when he said hello. He bought me a drink
immediately and engaged in some small talk. I could not believe
that I was on a blind date and that he was so handsome.
He spoke intelligently and seemed very passionate about
life. After several moments, we barely remembered that our
friends were there. Soon, we were getting seated and he was
pulling my chair out for me. I had never had anyone do that for
me before. I assumed that he was doing it just to impress me.
My friend kicked me under the table, giving me that "I told you
so" look. I blushed. For the entire meal, he kept my attention
and made me laugh hysterically. He had a sense of humor to go
along with his brains and good looks. I could tell that he had
the type of personality that would challenge me. That is a huge
bonus for me.
By the end of the evening, I knew that my blind date had
turned out perfectly. Perhaps he really was my Prince Charming.
That was three years ago. Now, I look over at my husband
sitting next to me on the couch, and I smile. My blind date was
definitely perfect for me.
